About Me

Hi! My name is Nicole Duplechain... that's (Doop - la - shan), but most of my students call me Mrs. Dup (Doop) :) I was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, and lived there (and in Baton Rouge) until I moved to California in 2013. Prior to teaching in California, I worked as a registered dietitian/nutritionist for 9 years. I'm still licensed but don't practice anymore. When I moved to California, I was given the opportunity to pursue a dream that I have had for a long time - TEACHING!!

I fell in love with my kids' school and after spending lots of time there assisting in classrooms and subbing for teachers... they offered me a job as a 1st-grade assistant. I did that for about one semester and then I got to do what I really love - what I think is part of what I WAS MADE FOR - teach!!!

I taught 6th-grade math and science my first year and then went on to teach 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th-grade math, 6th and 7th-grade Bible, performing arts, and drill team... not all at once! I absolutely love teaching. My niche is definitely with the "bigger kids" - middle and high schoolers. I love taking difficult concepts and breaking them down into easy steps for them. I love that they can handle a bit of sarcasm and I love getting to share in a small part of their lives (especially in this time when they are figuring out who they want to be).

Besides all that... I have been married to the best guy for over 20 years :) We have 3 kids - one son in elementary school and two daughters in high school. So whatever stage your child is in - I'm probably familiar with it :)

I love Jesus. I love people. I love reading and writing and DANCING! I love taking long walks with no particular destination in mind. I love falling asleep on the sofa while watching a movie. I love playing games with my family. I love being a mom, a wife, and a friend.

ps - Update as of August, 2022: My family and I relocated to Central Florida!! I still love teaching and kids and Jesus! Reach out to me if I can help you with anything!!
